Feasibility Study for an X-ray Fel Oscillator at the Lcls-ii*

چکیده
We show that a free-electron laser oscillator generating X-ray pulses with hard X-ray wavelengths of order 0.1 nm is feasible using the presently proposed FEL-quality electron beam within the space of existing LCLS-II infrastructure when combined with a low-loss X-ray crystal cavity. In an oscillator configuration driven by the 4 GeV energy electron beam lasing at the fifth harmonic, output x-ray bandwidths as small as a few meV are possible. The delivered average spectral flux is at least two orders of magnitude greater than present synchrotronbased sources with highly stable, coherent pulses of duration 1 ps or less for applications in Mössbauer spectroscopy and inelastic x-ray scattering.

Laser power meters as an X-ray power diagnostic for LCLS-II
For the LCLS-II X-ray instruments, laser power meters are being developed as compact X-ray power diagnostics to operate at soft and tender X-ray photon energies. These diagnostics can be installed at various locations along an X-ray free-electron laser (FEL) beamline in order to monitor the transmission of X-ray optics along the beam path. In addition, the power meters will be used to determine...

The possibility of inserting an optical klystron on the storage ring of an Iranian Light Source Facility as a Synchrotron Radiation Free electron Laser for coherence harmonic generation in the soft x-ray spectrum has been studied. The study has been performed using the 3D FEL simulation code GENESIS 1.3 and in accordance with the available characteristic parameters of ISLF. Different potential ...
متن کاملTHz PUMP AND X-RAY PROBE DEVELOPMENT AT LCLS*
We report on measurements of broadband, intense, coherent transition radiation at terahertz frequencies, generated as the highly compressed electron bunches in LCLS pass through a thin metal foil. The foil is inserted at 45° to the electron beam, 31 m downstream of the undulator. The THz emission passes downward through a diamond window to an optical table below the beamline. A fully compressed...
متن کاملStatus of the LCLS X-Ray FEL Program
The Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS) program involves a collaboration of several US National Laboratories and universities with the goal of designing and building the first 4-generation hard x-ray source, an x-ray free-electron laser (FEL). This FEL will utilize extremely short, intense, low-emittance electron pulses created by the high-energy linear accelerator at the Stanford Linear Acceler...
متن کاملAvailability Performance and Considerations for LCLS X-Ray FEL at SLAC
The Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS) is an X-ray Free Electron Laser (FEL) facility located at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. LCLS has been in operation since spring 2009, and it has completed its 3rd user run. LCLS is the first in its class of X-ray FEL user facilities, and presents different availability challenges compared to storage ring light sources. This paper presents recen...
